This
is a brief summary of our
specialised private residential
districts in Singapore:

Prime
Residential Areas
(Districts 9, 10 and 11)
Districts 9,
10 and 11 are traditionally
considered the prime
residential areas, primarily
because of the area's
proximity to the Orchard Road
shopping and entertainment
belt, as well as its proximity
to the CBD. Exclusive
residential developments can
be found in this area.
High-rise
apartments and condominiums
make up most of the
residential developments in
district 9. Within this
district, the neighbourhood in
the immediate vicinity of
Orchard Road is generally more
exclusive compared with
developments further from
Orchard Road. Many upmarket
developments can be found in
this area.
Most of the
prime landed residential
developments can be found in
districts 10 and 11, along the
Holland and Bukit Timah areas.
Almost all the designated
'good class' bungalow areas
are located in these two
districts. The minimum plot
size for bungalows in the good
class bungalow areas is 12,000
sq. ft. Besides conventional
housing, a large concentration
of luxurious condominiums can
also be found in this area.
Western
Area
(Districts 5, 21 and 23)
In the
western part of Singapore,
private residential
developments are located
mainly in districts 5, 21 and
23.
District 5 is popular with the
Japanese community due to its
close proximity to The
Japanese School in Clementi.
District 21 is filled with
both high-rise condominiums
and landed residential
estates. The more residential
environment of district 21
coupled with its proximity to
many foreign schools such as
the United World College of
South East Asia, Hollandse
School and Dover Court
Preparatory School have also
attracted a mixture of
expatriates
